diesel/gas probs? on '96 'fender 130
or at least I think this is the problem
whenever I'm towing my 2.1 tonne caravan with family of four onboard, after a couple of hours driving, anytime I stop, say, for fuel, I can't start the bugger again. I wait about 30/40 mins and off she goes again like there was never any problem. I have noticed that the temp guage gets pretty high with the gas switched on but as soon as I go back to driving with straight diesel, it cools down again. Does the running of the diesel/gas raise the temperature? It doesn't appear to be electrical because I have stried to start using jump leads from the aux batt, to no avail. Whenever I drive without the van, the problem doesn't occur. Do I need one of those oil cooler things?
btw, I have fiddled around with the gas settings to get a bit more oomph for towing but it does it anyway, whenever I tow any distance over a couple of hours or so

Does the motor turn over or turns over but doesn't fire?.If it is running hot it could be because you are overfueling it,when you say ''fiddled with the gas settings'' that isn't the type of thing that should be fiddled with, gas or diesel needs to be set by someone who knows what they are doing. My 300 runs D/G and it doesn't run hot at all,not even when it's mid 40's.Take your vehicle back where you had the gas fitted and get the ratio's back to normal and don't fiddle with it again.Check your power to the shut-off solenoid and make sure the wire ''clicks'' to the terminal. no Pat. It doesn't do a thing and certainly doesn't turn over
the installer showed me how to "fiddle" but yes, I'll go back to him anyway.
