    Defender TD5 Exhuast

    Hi all

What is the consenus on the running straight pipe through? 3" or 3.5"?

I have searched but can't find what l am looking for!

Have the centre muffler out - turbo spools a bit better. But l am informed this will be even better!

    Ta,

3.5" is heading into doof-doof territory

Don't think you're going to gain much on a TD5 past 3", but then I am a farmer so you'd better talk to your local exhaust shop.....

Are you talking about removing the whole exhaust and replacing with a 3" or 3.5" pipe with no silencers?

If so thats going to be NOISY!

I have a straight through (CAT removed) front pipe and mid section on the 110 but have left the rear section standard so it still has the silencer. Its still pretty noisy when I press the loud pedal hard.

If you are replacing the whole lot, then 3.5" will be a bit better than 3". If your just replacing a section, then keep it as close to the original diameter as possible.

    3.5" wont help at all....

3" is the max... Turbo outlet is just under 3", anything larger is a waste.

"Lara" is 3" from the turbo back... Runs better with the 3" vortex than straight pipe.

exacterly what he said! but a bit of what john said too.
the turbo outlet size is 2 3/4, you can fit 3'' on it but its a bit of a process. im 3'' straight through to a vortex and then from the diff back i kept the OE 2 3/4 to keep the gass speed up. it sounds great!

    Thanks for replies.

Looking to go 3" from the turbo - straight through. BUT as some here have said, perhaps it might be better to leave that rear muffler (silencer?) in taking the 3'' to it?

I assume this will be better than what (standard exhust with middle one out) ... plus sound a bit louder?
