If you are talking about play in the sliding spline alone, then 5 degrees is alot, there should be virtualy none, but if you are talking about the front axle, then 5 Deg is bugger all and I wish I had that little.![]()
On a 1994 S1 Discovery, how much front driveshaft play is too much? Should there be any play at all?
Reason I ask is when I get underneath my car, I can move the shaft by hand quite a bit, i would say no more than 5deg though....
So yeah, is there any set amount it should move?
If its moving too much, what could be the problem?
Regards,
Matt

Hi matt,
Check your front uni joint transfer case end, as I have had to replace mine twice,
good luck

Has anyone replaced the rubber uni-joints with the conventional type? Is there much involved or can you just get the range rover ones and bolt them straight in?
Whats bad about having the rubber joints?
