I have fitted an ATF cooler. Hopefully it will do the job without failure.
At this stage I can't keep waiting to source parts, I need to get the vehicle running so I can go back to work so I can afford to keep the vehicle running.
Hmm. I hope I am not going to have flow issues.
As I have had nothing whatsoever to do with Discovery I had no idea they had any sort of oil cooler. I assumed that like most, they had nothing in that department. A speed shop will sell you a sandwich adaptor, to fit between the filter and filter housing, hence the need to tell them the filter number. They usually have these on the shelf with hoses and oil radiator to suit, and like most of that US sourced speed equipment, quite reasonably priced..
It really should be mounted ahead of the radiator in cool air.

Ummm, cooler mounted on the wrong side mate.
You want to mount it ahead of your radiator. Oil temp is going to be a bit more than water temp.
Check out this link
engine oil cooler -
You need the filter adaptor, LR part number ERR2490 which allows you to hook up the cooler, and ERC2226L the adaptor bolt.
The adaptor to oil pump gasket is ERR852, but I found that a good square profile gasket from a Z9 or Z89a filter is better. Mine had a leak and as I was doing an oil change when I did my oil pump, I sized it up thinking that there couldnt be any good reason why it would be different and I was right. In fact, it was better than the original!!
Cant remember which connection is what but let me look at it tomorrow and I will give you a connection diagram for it.
Cheers
Andrew
I don't mean to be rude, but did you read any of the previous posts before you posted?
I DON'T need any adaptors. The engine came pre plumbed.
I KNOW the cooler would be best fitted on the cool air side of the radiator.
I have now done 6 or 7 hundred km with no leaks or failures.
I talked with someone else who did a similar conversion and did thousands of km with no dramas.
next time i wont bother then... sheesh
