    AFAIK a D1 has a mechanical 4HP22 while the D2 has an electronic 4HP22E.

You should maybe talk to a Transmission specialist who knows whether the valve bodies are interchangeable, and if so swap them over.

Common sense suggests that the trans should be the same.

Here's a thought .PM Ashtrans and ask him . If anyone would know he would.

They do a lot of work for dealers & are authorised by JLR for warranty work.

The owner is also a Landy nut owning a classic & i think a newer RR.
He is also a member from memory of the LROCV.

    discovery 2 tranny

I fitted a Si auto box to my td5 as it was the only way then to get my speedo to work when i fitted the td5 to my 94 disco, i have now fitted a S2 auto box and that was also rewired to get the speedo to work.
I am not sure about the length of the S1 tranny compared to the S2 re
    mounts.

    Hybrid disco.

Doesn't the speedo come off the transfer case (not the gearbox), and the D2 speedo is driven off the ABS sensors and SLABS computer.

D2 has a 4HP24EH. But that is not important.

I suspect that you will have to get some mods done to the ECU or the program. Probably will need to get a D2 manual transmission ECU or control software loaded into your existing ECU.

The rest of the bits and peieces will be mechanical issues with mounts etc which I expect should be overcome easily enough.

Umm, why step backwards??? Quite a few things will be different as the 4HP24 is longer, mounts differently and has different prop shafts plus being electronically controlled, its linked to the ECU.

May be cheaper to fix your existing by the time you have jiggled with everything to make something else fit, plus the 4HP24 is a far better box.
Has bigger clutch packs for 1st & 2nd, of which these are usually used to upgrade a 4HP22.

Look for a good S/H otherwise. Big backwards step to a 22.

    Thats not quite right

All Australian delivered Disco2's have the 4HP22EH. The only ones that had the 4HP24EH were the NAS spec 4.6 V8's which we never got.
