All up ks of my defender so far is 140k
Yes, I see your point Ron, I experience all those on a daily basis but I would never change to another make because of it, and As regards the GQ, you would probably have died of boredom by now!
I do draw the line at freelanders though:mad:, nasty piece of work that one:eek:
So, I apologise for my '' emoticon, as I can see that even after all these faults, you are STILL an enthusiast:D:TakeABow:
:D:D

I also have a 95 defender 130 tdi 300, and I think Ron has gotten out of it lightly. I think I have had all his problems, and:
flogged out harmonic balancer, crankshaft and key,
flogged out timing pulley and key,
siezed and chernobyled transfer box bearings and case,
split front diff housing,
leaking power steering box,
steering arm falling off,
flogged out pitman arm bushes,
flogged out brake vac pump,
cracked exhaust manifold,
split air inlet hoses,
blown out glow plug,
burnt out heater/demister fan switch,
self destructed seat bases,
engine oil leaks,
gearbox oil leaks, and,
more rattles than the kings baby.
And, what else would I have but another 5 or 6 landrovers?https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...013/09/470.jpg
:D:D:o:eek:
Same, same Gumnut. All these are common to most Defenders, just rare to see it ALL in the one vehicle!:o
I may also add that an awful lot of your posted problems may have been avoided with competent preventative maintenance by someone who understands these earlier Defenders and their foibles..:wasntme::)
JC
I think the question is "did you buy it new or secondhand from someone who failed to maintain it as they were a tightarse" and now your copping all the problems??
It seems hypocritical that people can sit back and criticise something, yet not have the balls to change it all because if they didnt have something to winge about, they wouldn't have anything to do.
Me, I blame myself for my bad decisions, build a bridge (or shell out the cash to fix it) and get over it! :)
