Why do you want an oil cooler on a R380.
do you have a temp gauge on it, is it getting hot?
I understand if it was an auto.

Yes, they get bloody hot and the R380 only has a limited oil capacity.
Some early 300Tdi's had them. All V8 Defenders and Disco's had them. All UK military Defenders have them. All TD5's have them (albeit a rudimentary, but reliable loop of pipe)
In hot weather and under load proper full synthetic manual trans fluids start to thin excessively without a cooler. (changes become significantly poorer, gear rattle becomes significant and often the oil is 'spent' by the 20,000km mark) I don't understand how they ever expected ATF to survive.
well im glad i didnt have temp gauge on it when i towed my 1.8t trailer 1000km west in 34c + heat....

I had a gauge to put on mine.
Email LR for working temp, to see if the gauge was the right range.
was told about 38 deg C.
so have not put the gauge on, best i get to and do.
if only it were that simple :D
(if only they had built them like the env's in your sIIb FC's)

After following this threadwith interest, I'm thinking perhaps I need one too, I always seem to end up driving the beast on 30-40 degree days, full (and I mean FULL) of camping stuff heading up the Hume for 4 hours, and I've just had a Tombie upgrade done, Rick, how close is 87 degrees to too hot for syntrans?
I'm thinking of putting one of these
in with a say 60 degree electric thermostat on the hot inlet to switch the fan on/off when the line get's hot. Probably mount it under the car somwhere.
Any thoughts anyone?
Is anyone able to post a parts diagram from the EPC of the factory unit and it's location?

Western on there posted up a piccy of the Wolf oil cooler for me once, I'm trying to find it.
I have a printout from my EPC, but aren't quite sure how to cut and paste the pics from the EPC up to here.
Sorry Rick, I should have been clearer, it's the Wolf stuff I was after.
