where the hell is the number 1 on cylinder on a 88 3.5 efi. i think i just stuffed my dizzy trying to change the rotor button (it still had the lord of darkness rotor button and cap on the old girl) anyway i need to know where number 1 cylinder so i can get it onto compressoin stroke so i can rip the dizzy out and give it a going over. now when i lift the rotor button up to remove it my hole shaft rasies up, and i have lost vacum advance. because i cant get the rotor off to remove the plastic cover i think more drastic measures are need to fix this problem, ie romove the dizzy

the center shaft will rise buy 3-5mm in some dizzy's.
if you cant get the rotor button off, yes take the dizzy out to get it off. put a bit of oil on the rotor button shaft b4 the new button goes on.
oh and remember to line up the oil pump drive in the engine in relation to the bottom of the dizzy.
cheers phil
