The 300Tdi is inherently a sound, proven and reliable engine. As stated, there is a problem lurking somewhere which should not be too difficult to address and sort out for good.
- Find the reason for overheating and fix it properly
- Change gasket (use OEM part only)
- Head needs to be planed
- Refit using new bolts
- Enjoy your engine for the next several 100.000kms

To update this machine, I talked to the owner this morning she said the car is auto, the head is currently off, it failed a crack check so its cactus, the bottom end would be ok I expect, she said it has only ever been serviced by normal mechanics like kmart etc so wouldnt think a genuine gasket has ever been used in it or the bolts ever replaced, its still up for grabs though she has one phone number at the moment from one member, I will keep updating this so we know where its at.
