Lifespan of a 300tdi brake vacuum pump?

Currently using an unbranded indian? pump installed early hits year with two gaskets and which is satisfactory so far.....

Unless I've missed it while reading through this thread - nobody else has mentioned the use of 2 or more gaskets when fitting a new one (to reduce the stroke slightly) - a pump life extending tip recommended to me by LR experts and at least one parts retailer in Sydney.

Yep the 2 gasket trick is the go. the supplier who i got my pump off just gave me 2 gaskets without even asking me. I assumed it was the normal thing to do now?
