200tdi's seem to have a week spot in the clutch system, our 92d1 leaks fluid to (have to top it up every day or 2)
Havn't got around to finding out what it is, it started just after we rebuilt the clutch slave and master cylinders
CHEERS TIM.
Hi,
I bought my Disco 1 200 Tdi last February. She had the motor rebuilt a few months before I bought her.
I have had great fun restoring the inside and she now has all the trim in place, new shocks all round. New panhard bush? etc replaced. I even got the seats recovered. Looks nice and drives like a dream.
Still got a couple of things to work on. The clutch started playing up and losing clutch fluid. I replaced the slave cylinder and although the clutch is silky smooth and miles better she still loses clutch fluid. I'm pretty sure I need to replace the clutch pipes along with the small housing it goes into and comes out of near the slave cylinder. The leak isn't big, I have to top up the master cylinder every couple of weeks and that area near the pipe junction and the slave cylinder is always wet. I reckon a hairline crack.
If anybody knows of someone who has one or is wrecking a Tdi 200 I'd appreciate a heads up.
The reason for my post is to pose a query to the knowledgeable folk on this forum. Since I bought the LR I have been monitoring the fuel usage and it just keeps getting better and better. At what stage is it fully run in?
She runs on Diesel and lpg and in mixed driving conditions I'm using 7.4 - 7.6 litres per 100k's. It was around 8.5 - 9 when I first got her 14 months ago and I have since done 36,000 k's. It's fantastic economy and I'm really chuffed as I sold my old V8 Disco after 10 years cause she needed filling after about 360k's. I really missed the old girl.
When I saw this one advertised as an economical Disco I jumped at it and sold my Ford Escape. Wife thinks I am mad however I'm sure people on here will know I made the right decision.
This one will do over 1,000 clicks between fills.
Thanks for any help.
Regards
Martin

there is two spots you dont want the fluid to leak into behind the master cylinder, usually runs through the fire wall onto the carpet and the slave cylinder can leak into the bell housing onto the clutch.make sure the wading plug in the bottom of the bellhousing is out to allow any leak to escape[hmmm sounds funny telling someone to let a landy leak oil]
The "small housing" near the slave is a hydraulic damper.
If the flexible hose works you may be able to bypass it, well I did on an R380 disco and made no difference to clutch operation but fixxed a leak! I believe the LT77 would be largely indifferent.
