no this didn't start when new tyres were fitted. I fitted the new tyes in the hope that my other ones were the ones causeing the vibs as they were wearing
phil the steering damper...I have had a look at old photo's and it is the same as it is now! so damper has been the same from the day you fitted it. it must not of either had those washers with it when delivered or you forgot to put them on. so maybe it is maybe it isn't but if damper has been the same then I don't see how that can cause the vibes and free blay now..
maybe it is toe in and out but again was doing it way before tyres were fitted. infact car drives straighter now tyres have been fitted no more pull to the right.
The damper I want to pull off anyway so will be looking at getting a new one of some sort soon.

Sorry for the one liner Q's Dullbird ... Just trying to keep the pattern uncluttered
Question
Is the front end "lifted" or "bog standard"?
Mike
lifted! the car has a 2" lift.
Just also like to point out that light steering and vibs only became apparent a couple of months before my other tyres became too worn and needed to be replaced. Hence why I originally thought that it was due to my old tyres

no if you mean straight after.
the lift was one of the first mods done to the car when I first brought it I have owned it 3 years the vib has only been apprent in the last lets say 5 months the lift has been on close to 2 years

Let's talk about the vibe...
Is it a shimmy vibe like a bent rim, or is it a higher frequency (4x) like a weight has fallen off the tailshaft balancing?
don't really know
you can't really hear it I don't think you just feel it through the steering wheel.
Also the vib isn't as aggressive now I have had my tyres changed...but it is still there. it also seems to happen smack on 100kph smooth as at 90 and if you push throught the 100 to 110 not as bad

Just to ensure it's still not rim/tyre related, would pay to swap fronts with backs and give a test run...
