Gday all!
Just wondering if anyone has some wiring advice for bypassing the sometimes-dodgy circuitry of the internals of a wabco unit on a D2? I need to know which wires on the harness I would jump the shuttle valve switch to.
Cheers,
Dave

I don't really care what you do........
BUT
When I suggested doing the same modification to my prefered LR parts supplier the question was raised about the insurance and the legal implications.
Which is obviously a very good question.
Hijack anyone

If it done right then no problem, with the lights on the abs is affected and so is the insurance there is no real change done and done right there is no difference to the external wiring as you are using the original wiring, hopefully Wabco have fixed this issue on later modulators they must be making a killing selling replacements along with landrover and I for one do not like handing over Quite a few grand for a design fault that is easy to fix andshould be a recall issue.

It's been said and done before but this is the actual cost involved.
Shuttle valves $120.
Modulator connector Plate - approx $1200.
These are the only two parts that have wiring for you to bypass.
Of these two parts the shuttle valves have been the major cause of the 3 amigo's. The interesting statistic is that it is about 80% of the problem.
For $120 would you risk it?
But I know what you are saying and sure if it involved a modification to another electrical part of the vehicle I would say go for it.
With the ABS and the way insurance always find an excuse not to pay out I would look at the whole question/implications.
know what you are saying, since I have connected the wiring from the shuttle valve to the external plug on the modulator no more lights but then that could have been because I pulled the shuttle valves out and cleaned them and cleaned the filters.
I think maybe should have done one to see if it would work then done the second if the first did not work but work long hours and don't have to much spare time in saying that must walk away from the computer and do some work on the boat.
I am a Qualfied diesel mechanic and do a alot of auto electric work some of it to do with safety circuits on heavy machinary where if you screw up and someone gets hurt you could end up being someone's toy in prison and I'm much to good looking for prison.

All sounds good - I think some may think I am trying to bypass the valvesThat's not the case
Just runing the wire to them externally and safely, rather than throung the dodgy soldering I've seen in the WABCO internals.
Cant see why (unless this failed) it would be any different to re-routing a hydraulic line for raised suspension or changing to different brake pads. Yes it would be bad if you bypassed the unit though!!
