There's an article in the Current 4WD Action re a smaller flatter Deep cycle AGM battery that would go well in a Disco Storage bin, I don't have the details but I'll get them. it looks the goods.

    Hi Mate.
I have an Optima battery fitted in the middle of the cargo barrier on my D2 to run an 80lt Engel.
Its powered via 2 of Drivesafes low voltage cut outs. The SC80 controls the main setup and I also have one of his modified SC40s controling the Engel/aux power to prevent over disgarge of the aux battery. The system works really well.
If you want a good price on Optima batteries, contact member RRTurboD,he sent me one cheaper inc post than I could buy in WA

    Cool battery

I put a gel cell 120 amp hr in the rear luggage box of the d2 disco. works well
    Remove the bin box.
Make a suitable carrier for the battery- there are bolt holes and threaded sections for the back seats you can use to secure it
Ebay - for a controller for the 2 batteries.
Run battery cable from the front to the rear and go up next to the fuel filler and into the box via a small existing hole.
I also removed the jack from the front of the vehicle and places it behind the air vent at the rear adjacent to the door hinge. I put the battery controller in the jack space -- up high for water?/.
I dont know how to upload pictures or you would have them I have them on the computer at home.

Hi cucinadio, my SC40 is a 40 amp dual battery controller, and as you are putting the battery in the rear, that’s as big as you need to go.

You are never likely to handle more than about 30 amps maximum between your cranking battery and your rear mounted battery.

On top of this, my controllers will give your existing auxiliary battery about a 50% increase in operating power over any other controller, and it’s nothing magical, it’s just the way I set my controllers up to give more use to the way most people use their auxiliary batteries.

Also, again because of the way my controllers work, you not only recharge your auxiliary battery quicker but if you are a heavy user, you will find my controllers tend to help give your battery a longer life span which means my controllers virtually pay for themselves.

Lots more info on my web site.
