At your own risk ,
i do this with an old falcon that gets moved every 4 or 5 yrs , of coarse the landrover has bigger moving bits but this may help .
You could try momentum .
May not be pleasant .
One wheel off the ground , started in high range , highest gear .
Use the throttle and brakes , it won`t sound nice but if nothing lets go it may free up . ( coarse with your foot on the clutch pedal )
If the plate etc was in good nick probably only one way as you say .

You've all been busy while I've been away!
I managed to free it the day I was last on here, just needed a little bit more brute force and ignorance. I didn't put WD40 anywhere near it, just tried Lots-A-Landies advice for a higher gear. Every time I've tried it since then it's worked a treat. I won't be topping up the cooling system for a while, though.
