    Manual Gearbox Oil

OK, MTF94 is not available in Australia anymore, can anyone recommend a good manual gearbox oil, the oil I have been using lately has been Penrite 75/80 Syn Fortified Manual gear Oil APi GL-4, this is supposed to be the equivalent to MTF-94.

Also I'm after a 10W/40 fully Syn to replace the 5W/40 that I'm currently using, I just want a bit higher cold vescosity as the engine gets more Ks on it

    Baz.

Peter the Castrol SynTrans is excellent in the 380 like garrycol said.
I believe that Nulon and Penrite have an equivelent oil.
    Cheers

Why ?? (and there usually isn't any difference in pumpability 'till you get under -5*/-10*C or lower in equivalent 10W-40 vs a 5W-40 oils)

If you really, really need a 10W-40, Penrite have 'Diesel SP' a low SAPS Euro IV HD diesel oil (do not use in petrol engines)
I've been using this for about 8 months in two engines. It's a bit cheaper than Delvac 1, but generally an order in option (20 litre drums) from a Penrite supplier. (they generally don't even know it exists) Zero oil consumption in the Tdi over 10,000km. It has a NOACK volatility of 9% or so, which is very good.

This is one of the reasons I wanted 10W/40, it has been using a bit of oil lately, my mechanic thinks it may help reduce the use of oil.

I couldn't find any around my area so I'm still using the Penrite 5W/40 again for this change.

I'm going to try the Syntrans 75W/90 for the gearbox and diffs.

    Thanks everyone for the advice.

naa, not a bit, as the hot oil viscosity is the same and there is bugger all difference in viscosity at Sydney overnight temps.

If you can order the Diesel SP or Delvac 1 oil consumption should drop a little compared to HPR Diesel 5, which is a little more volatile. (around 4% more)
Every order so far of the D SP has been a special order from Bursons for me, and both times I've had to convince them that it actually exists (till they look in the system )

Thanks Rick, I have a Bursons near me, well 40mins away, I'll give them a call and order some for my next change.

    Thanks everyone.
