you'll fry the #4+8 pots and take out the head doing the chev in the disco thing.
The suzi will drive the ZF BUT its going to be hell on the TC and the first clutch pack, rebuilding the 22 with the 24 guts and a low stall TC might work but My money would be on an alison auto IF it had to have the auto
so did i and so did rovercare, i think the isuzu is a better conversio but the engine braking of the high comp chev is better, and so is the sound:):)
I wouldn't root around with this sort of conversion. Not worth the drama. My mate has a customer who has asked about this. He is a competent skilled fitter-machinist with thirty plus years history in preparing racing motor-cycles. He has severe doubts about the LR driveline's capacity to handle that much grunt as do I. The customer wants to pull a largish caravan on an extended outback tour.
My suggestion was to sell the Discovery and buy a County-Isuzu, but I gather the client's wife does not drive do-it-yourself gearboxes only mixmasters.
trade it in on a td5 and remap it .power/torque/economy and smooth
What part of the drivetrain isn't strong enough?,I haven't broken a thing in mine and we never broke anything when we had then in the pit pre-airbag days. The rover drivetrain is more than capable of doing anything you want it to,it is only one type of owner that has trouble with them and it's been my experience that they have trouble regardless of what type of vehicle they drive. Pat
i think Brian means with the isuzu or chev, and i agree, the rover driveline is weak (except for transcase), diffs are weak, axles are weak, auto is so so, LT95 is good except for intermediate gear set(brass shims). I'd go the county, or disco isuzu with T700 if they want auto, or Td5 chipped and tuned. but my money is on the 4bd1t:)
