Pedro, there's been a lot of talk of the different flush machines on the BITOG forum over the years, but I've never paid any attention seeing as I don't drive a slush box.

If you don't want to drop the box the trick I heard was do either a few flushes or as stated disconnect a cooler line and keep feeding fluid in while it's running. If they are different colour fluids it is supposed to be easy to tell the difference.
Also what's this alternative to transmax z???
Costs an arm and a leg to replace that stuff at least once a year.

I had the disco flushed and a new filter fitted last year by an auto trans specialist.It worked very well as there was not even the slightest streak of dark fluid afterwoulds.To me it is like the cooling system,get it done once properly by a specialist. Pat

Will double check the lable,it does have Range Rover/Landrover along with a heap of european makes on it,but it could be the newies.
PS,this stuff INSNT Penrite SYNTH you see in Supercrapp etc. Penrite ATF-Synthetic.The local mechanic that long since left bought it for my Grader,we inherited it when he left.We were told not to use it in the grader as it isnt the correct spec and will void our warranty.
Im running it in my TD5 manual at the moment but after reading some of Rick130s posts I will revert to a MTF once I start doing more towing.It has fixed the baulking in my 243000km old box nicely:cool::cool::cool:

<edit> As Mike suggested, I'd check with Penrite before substituting SIN ATF for BMV. Just cause it lists the commercial spec doesn't automatically confer it meets/exceeds the 11b spec too, even though fluids like Transmax Z are dual rated.

Interesting, but do you think LR used Esso LT71141 in their automatics from the factory? Perhaps in D3s but I doubt in any D1/D2.Quote:

Not a ZF, but I did a fluid change on a Nissan auto behind a TD 27 for a mate before they came with us across the nullarbor.
It (fortunately) had a drain plug, but no filler. I drained the fluid out, and filled through the dipstick hole (using an adaptor to a funnel made from rubber tubing). started, drained, and filled again. I was using standard fluid, not synthetic though, so it wasn't too $$$.
