Stupid question - Where is the T-case fill plug? D1

Yerr, been trying to undo a plug like those on the diffs but it wont budge. Am I trying to undo the right thing? It's the plug facing the rear of the vehicle and is kinda next to the giant handbrake drum.

    D1 94 model.

    Yep, that's the filler/level hole.

Use a 1/2" square bar, e.g., socket set, to undo it anti-clockwise.

Also using a 1/2" with a rounded end is some times easier. But at the very least get a big solid extension bar on to it.

And don't do it up as tight. The plug is tapered and you can damage the case.

keerryst! I'm going to have to get a longer breaker bar. I had the extension and ratchet and hammer and no joy at all.

At least i'm not trying to pull the wrong plug out! Cheers All.

Its a pain, but it in this case it may be better to remove the handbrake drum to get a breaker bar in without an extension on it - will allow you to get more torque and maybe a better angle on the beast.

A 2ft long 1/2" breaker bar should do it

Did you tighten it up last time or previous owner??

Its a tapered thread (same as Diff pan plugs) - You shouldnt overtighten them otherwise you can damage the casing.

Not had the pleasure of having to get access to it, but from the pix that Slunie has put up it may be easier with a universal joint on a breaker bar.

I got mine loose by using my foot, fitted the breaker bar and then used my leg muscle to push against it, more leverage than using your arms.
