Ideas for a BIG second battery

    Hey all,

I've got a brand new battery out of one of my other cars, Supercharge Gold, cost over $260 and I've probably used it to start the engine three times. I can't return it, I can't sell it for anywhere near $260 so I may as well install it as a second in the Discovery.

I know its possible to fit an N70ZZ (300mm long) size in a Disco but this battery is 370mm long x 175 wide.

Any other locations it can go? Possible to mount it to the chassis under the passenger side?

I've measured up today and taken some photos to illustrate the problem which I'll upload soon.

Moving the power steering bracket gives enough room to fit a N70ZZ size. This battery is 70mm longer than N70ZZ type and only just fits between the intercooler support panel and the inner guard.

Is it possible to site the reservoir up near the washer bottle and extend the hoses to suit?

Don't know about the diesel but there is no way you'd fit any bigger than an N70 in that spare battery space for the V8. I have one and it rubs the radiator support. Will have to fix that one day.

I would think your only option would be to do something in the back.
Maybe make it removable as it would be a pain to have it in there all the time. Just buy a float charger so it doesn't die in the mean time.
