well there ya go
cheers phil
Sorry for my ignorance but which compressor would be the easiest and cheapest to obtain and how hard and what is involved in modifying the sanden compressor.
Thanks in advance Pete
imho...wich you may not want to take:p the sanden is the easier to obtain as its in almost all cars in any wreckers, whereas the york was widley used 20 years ago.
should be able to get one for 50 bux.
as for the mod, well that takes 10 min tops. you need a drill a small BSP/metric tap and a grub screw.
or you could drive to my place and i can give you a york and bracket to bolt it to any rover v8
cheers phil
reciprocators like the york are still in use in refigeration plants and some trucks.
Ive got 3 of em and paid didly for the most expensive one and got one of them just for the asking.
the others can be had from wrecking yards or for the asking if you know where how and who to ask.
as a side thought you could also try a proper compressor off of a wrecked bit of plant that had a belt driven compressor (some trucks also use this method)
Thanks for the great feed back, good laugh too. I too am greatful for all your wisom on this matter. What can the 91 V8 Disco with aircon run, I need the aircon as it doesnt work AGAIN  but being dark green in summer gets way toooooo hot especially with the young ones:angel:.
The retail version want $290 for the bracket alone:o and the same again for the compressor. If I can build it cheaper and better for me knowing the system inside and out.;)
Cheers
Have a look here for lots of info on the York.

You could use the early (around 76) Range Rover aftermarket bracket for a Sanden, the mount is low on the p/s of the motor
