4.9 V8

If you want a 5ltr without stuffing around machining the crank and finding Chev rods just fit 94mm sleeves to the 4.4. Heaps of then have been done and still going strong. Just don't make them rev hard as will self destruct:eek: They are not a X bolted or webbed block.:(

What a bummer..........I had 4 cranks out on the floor today, gave them all the bell test and .............buggered if I can tell the difference :confused: 2 Terriers and 2 Rovers. It's not an issue really.

Wayne - You cannot mistake the Leyland and Rover cranks;the Leyland unit has 2.55 inch diameter main journals whilst the Rover has 2.3 inch mains.Late model Rovers from the cross bolted blocks had 2.50 inch main journals but the nose of the crank is longer than the 3.5 / P76 items.While on the subject I am looking for a P76 / Terrier crank-if you want to sell one of your units or know of another for sale would you give me a call Peter 0448 872 922

The first two are 3.5's, the one on white rag is Terrier and the rusty one is either P76 or Terrier.

The rusty one is a good candidate for a 3.5-3.9 block, (machining the journals will take care of the rust)

Peter, The difference I was referring too was the sound;)

A friend of mine had a 4.9 (4935cc) P76 engine built (with 94mm bore) for pulling his boat... he loves it. It has huge reserves of grunt but it's wise not to work it much over 3000 rpm if you want it to last! His has been going for over 2 years now, no troubles at all.

I've always said the P76 blocks are fragile after seeing one crack along the cam journals:eek: Let alone cast crank in some.

Would your friend be around the Hunter Valley or Sydney area?

The young bloke at Bruce Davis Performance Landy's also has a 94mm Bored P76 in his old Rangie and had no dramas with it. He used a 90 model Radiator to keep it cool.

When I rebuild the P76 in my 2 Door I'm going to get the 94mm bores :twisted:
