helicoil?
Just bought a new(old) boat with a old v4 Johnson 60hp on the back. pulled one of the plugs out and found the plug has been cross threaded or over tightened and has striped the thread. Is there any way to fix this or is it time for a new head? Also if anyone has one of these motors could you please post a pick of the throttle linkage set up under the cowl as mine is missing. Model number is VX13A and guessing it is of a 1970's vintage.
Cheers
helicoil?
Your local tame head reconditioning service can probably helicoil it with the engine in situ without even dismantling...............
... take it in on the trailer...
Helicoil it, ITs a DIY process if you want to buy the gear and shouldnt cost you more than about $70 if its easy to get at to have a mechanic do it.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
There are also special helicoil like repair kits for spark plug threads, I think they are a little cheaper than the standard Helicoil Kits.
