D2 Twin pocket headlights into a D1 update?

After reading Phil's buildup thread on his impressive ute and seeing his D2 headlight upgrade it got me thinking would a pair of D2 twin pocket headlights from a later D2 fit into an updated D1? I would hate to imagine the cost of the lights themselves new but im not in any form or rush so if a set came up for the right price i wouldnt mind whacking a set in cause i reckon they look pretty good. Anyone done it?

Dont have a bumper, its got a TJM winch bar, from looking at DW's ute project he changed the grill aswell. What that out of necessity or purely because the D2 grill looked better phil?

the grill will have to be changed to suit the shape of the lights. i too was going to put D2a lights in the ute....but at 400 ea, i dont think so, i solved that problem and bought a D2a as well

the D2 lights with a hid upgrade are, pun intended, brilliant

take the lights out of a D2 get some paper and trace out the large center hole and the 3 adjuster holes. transfer this to D1 and cut away..
    list of parts are
    D2 grille
    2 D2 headlights, different to D1 update
    2 blinkers
and the 2 cover strips that sit under the lights and are attached to the grille.

a D2a upgrade will be ALOT more involved, probably quite doable, but not for what i wanted...and bundalene hasent broken into the D2a market yet

    cheers phil
