    RR Classic to 200 TDI

I have a mate who has an 82 4 door Rangie that currently has a 4.4 in it.

He has from a wrecked Disco a 200 Tdi and R380a GB. He wants to put the 200tdi and GB into the Rangie!

Was wondering if anyone has done this conversion - How hard it is. My mate has an extremely high level of mechanical aptitude, but is a little time poor.

Is it an economical swap! Given he has most if not all of the ingredients. Are there things he needs to be careful of?

Is he better off getting a Disco Chasis and bolting the engine and GB into the Disco Chasis and just swapping out the body?

Is there an aftermarket engine/ Gearbox mounting kit to do the conversion.

We already know he will need to modify the tunnel to fit the gear stick, engine mounts, fuel pump, what about radiators etc..

OR: Does someone have a 300Tdi Range Rover they want to sell/Swap?

    Cheers

    Ian.

Search for LRHybrid100's RR - the thread shows his 300tdi swap.

Sell the 200 to a series owner and get a 300 Tdi with a latter R380

200Tdi ant LT77 ex D1 is an easy swap into RRC, apart from the engine mount change, the bulkhead will have to be 'massaged' back a little at the top as prior to 1989 these engines weren't available in the RRC so the bulkhead shape is a little too close to the rocker cover.

The radiator mounts will have to be cut off the RR, and trimmed back so the intercooler and rad assembly can fit, you may have to drill the chassis mounting holes in the front crossmember for the bottom rad pins, and 2 holes for the top rad mounts in the front rad support apron.

other than that, its all pretty straightforward AND A GREAT RESULT

The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
