Do you think this is a stupid Idea??

walking down the road tonight I came across some stuff on our street that has been put out for council pickup....in it was two seat for a car

I have no idea what they are out of but said to Ian they look like nice seats for the disco...I later went and knocked on the door asking if they were for pick up (which they were) and did they mind if I took a seat to measure it up.

    no probs

the seats are really nice....now they are electric (of course I have no idea if they work or not. but anyway I measured up the seat for space and the cushions are exactly the same width etc as the orginal disco....the rails are almost the same width out by a couple of mil. but the rails are longer by about 10cm.....

do you think it would be possible to put my seat rails on these seats?

or if not possible would it be silly to think that the back rest and base cushion could be used using the frame work of my own original seats.....

would be really nice to get them to fit as they are very much like the disco seats only slightly firmer with a bit more lumba support and a fraction more of a bucket

here is a pic of them they are leather and swede mix with a touch of normal fabric

Oh they have side airbags too...so would need to disarm and remove them if that is possible

Thoughts....if everyone thinks it is a stupid Idea I will go and put them back out for the council to pick up

I replaced the seats in my bj40 a few years back with some from a mazda people mover, great move

Technically it will/may need engineering approval of course but that aside you would want to remove the airbag system if possible, crash shop would be able to advise on how or do it for you safely.

The electric seats may be asimple or cmplicated item to get working depending on the vehicle/system. Most are nothing more than a heavy live feed wire (usually run through a relay which is switched by the ignition).

For the runners we built new heavy duty ones from steel (of course fairly easy and straight forward in a bj40! lol)

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Good luck!

Wow nice find,, as someone else said, if you decide to offload them you will get a decent price on ebay for them, they only thing i dont like about them is the color, not sure how that would look in a disco.

Nice Find! If you adapt them in and a RTA inspector picks up on a rego audit you will have to get them engineered. I've had it happen

What the hell is a Rego Audit...Here in God's Country we don't have them, so ya gonna have to move up in the world and get closer to the Almighty and that way you can put any damned set of seats in a Disco you want.

hey Cal the colour probably didn't come out well on the photo...but they are beige, as is the interior of my disco.....its not going to be an exact match of course but rmembering what they looked like in the daylight they were not far off my seats maybe slightly darker but I can't remember I have had seat covers on them now for so long forgotton what they look like
