How can I fit a oil pressure sender to 3.9 V8?

I have been trying to fit a oil pressure sender to a 3.9V8 out of a disco with no luck. The problem is that in the location where the low oil pressure light goes there is very little room. There is a head of a bolt right there and the alternator bracket above and as the the sender is about 35mm diameter and i need an adapter it hits on everything. So my question is has any here fitted a sender to theirs, and if so how? Or if anyone has any suggestions.
This engine has an oil cooler so can't go in those holes.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

Mate I know what you are going through!
I spent many hours on my back in a cranked position with an ring spanner slowly trying to get at it, and it was painstakingly slow 1 micro millimeter at a time with a spanner. It would be easier to remove the engine than trying to do it again
Interesting if some one comes up with a simple way?

I have just fitted one to a Serpentine motor by making a rectangular block out of Aluminum, drilling a hole at one end and attaching it with a Banjo bolt where the oil pressure switch went. I then drilled and tapped for the various senders I fitted, I made the gallery by drilling from the opposite end of the Banjo bolt. I now have real oil pressure, oil temp and pressure switch. I think the pressure switch was unc from memory.

I have the same lay out in my 89 model. I'm finding the gauge back lights reflect on the wind screen at night

You are one of the Lucky ones that has the older oil filter and pump set up.
Try it on a Disco with a later timing case, the oil pressure sender is not in easy reach like yours, it is up higher in tiny hands department.

Have you considered a sandwich plate? You stick it between the filter and the bracket that the filter attaches to. They come with heaps of ports to add senders and oil cooler etc.

Have a look here SANDWICH PLATE ADAPTOR OIL PRESSURE SENDER & SENSOR - C - eBay Oil Pressure, Gauges, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 26-Oct-09 21:17:27 AEDST)
On the Serpentine belt late model Disco1 it might make the filter protrude more. The (Ryco part numbers for ref only) Z89 instead of the Z9 is used because it is shorter. The reason given not to use the longer and cheaper Z9 is it could be ripped off on full articulation. These filters face forward on the later timing cases instead of on the side like older oil pump models
So fitting a sandwich plate and then an oil filter might have the same effect as you have increased the overall filter length effectively.
