Heater control valve - where is it? hlp pls

On a D1/softdash rr, where is the heater control valve, or where is it supposed to be, when i bought me car the heater was disconnected and now i have a new core in it i am wondfering if the valve was removed with the pipework, it all works but the a/c isnt as cold anymore so, i know what it looks like, but now where to find it. Also what operates it? vacuum?

    Update D1 or early D1?
Only the very first of the update D1s had a heater tap. From approx 1995 build, there was no tap & the water/coolant flowed through the heater constantly.

Not too sure on the last of the RRCs though.

Classics are all constant flow, at least mine is and its a '93. I was under the impression that Disco's were too as they also suffer from startup gurgling when there is an airlock or cooling system leak....??

Have Microcat so can check the D1 update query if someone can give me a month & year or a VIN to work from....

    Cheers

My 89 RR has an interesting mod - a cable operated hot water valve inline with the normal piping. Works fine.

It's highly possible that if your vehicle was equipped with a valve that it went when the heater was disconnected - look for a set of wires somewhere near the rear of the drivers side cylinder bank and firewall. ( Unless it's a tdi then no valve) . If there are spare wires near there, then what's missing is a solenoid diverting vacuum to a water valve when both AC dials are on max cold.

According to the parts list, all soft dash Classics had a heater tap.
Update D1s had the tap until MA104738.

ok so i had a look under the bonnet and above the wabco booster i found this blue doodady, it looks like a vacuum solenoid or something, there is vacuum coming from the engine to the valve, ther is an electrical plug on it, and it appears to have a vacuum port with nothing connected, does this sound like it might be related, and would this heater control valve be under the bonnet near the firewall like on most vehicles, if someone had a disco they could have alook at for me would be great or RAVE. as the only one i have access to is a 99 d1 which by the sounds of it is different.
