I'm heading up the beach on the weekend, and was wondering what you all do to protect your vehicle from salt/sand.
I was of the understanding I should give the underside of the vehicle a coating of Lanox or similar, and I should thoroughly clean the vehicle after I return.
Any tips?

As above, however you have left it too late for this trip. If you coat it now the fish oil/lanotec will still be sticky, and you will end up with a chassis covered with sand stuck hard (ask me how I know...)
Best to thoroughly clean every nook and cranny when you get back and coat liberally with fish oil or lanotec once dry.

OK... how do you know?![]()
Once you have hosed as much as you can get to underneath, replace the hose nozzle with a garden sprinkler and pull it around under the vehicle for a while.

Do you still need to do this if you only go in dry sand?
We have a beach close to Adelaide (Goolwa/Murray mouth) when you drive down via sandhills and it is pretty wide.
I go there quite a bit, but never get it in the wet sand. It gets sand underneath, but because it's dry, I have never bothered rinsing it down after these trips.
Do you reckon I should still be rinsing it off, even if I keep out of the wet stuff? We mainly take the new Puma, so I don't want to end up with it rusting of course.....
Thanks
David
I can also recommend fish oil, get the ones that don't smell or your family will hate you lol. I did the same thing by applying it the day before a trip, and still carrying around half of Noosa North Shore
Oh and whatever you DO NOT spray it on your panels, it will ruin the paint and also don't apply it to the brake disks either...seen someone do that before too.

I do the Murray Mouth trip occasionally and try to keep up high on the dry stuff and keep my speed down, but afterwards there's always a fair bit of sand underneath and in various nooks and crannies, even around the engine (must be the wheelspin up that last dune). Every grain carries salt and salt is hygroscopic, so it's best to get it off.
