    Speed Corrector

    Hi All,

I have finally fitted my Samras speed corrector to the D2 (after having bought it 4 years ago ) and have it operational with the 32" tyres.

Now that my speed is shown correctly I am wondering about the odometer reading - will this now show the correct reading or still be understated by 10%. Anyone have any idea?

    Cheers,

Odometer is separate to speed and won't be affected.

Afterall, you are travelling the same distance just getting there quicker/slower.

Not entirly true. Odometer is driven by the same VSS as the speedo. Bigger tires will result in less rotations for the same difference travelled.

If you have corrected the speedo by altering the signal from the VSS (or speedo drive gear) your odo will be corrected as well

True! But then worn tyres will give a different reading to non-worn. The difference is so small its neglegable.

Concerns about variations up to 10% is a stretch for odo's but entirely likely with speedos!

Franz, the odo will be correct. The speedo correction unit if placed into the SLABS speed output will affect all systems in the car.

    Thanks Simon.

Bugger, now the odo will show correct mileage instead of 10% under that I used to get when running bigger tyres

    Cheers,

    Franz

The unit has 2 speed settings. You can run it 20% slower if you want.

Yes I know, but I wanted the correct speed and understated mileage when running 32" tyres
