Interesting that it was 12mm on the one you measured. Maybe the springs sit a bit tighter to the outside of the rails on a 110 which allows for the other few mm. Or maybe its in LR's chassis build tolerances!!
I measured directly over the spring perches on bare (no body fitted) chassis.

Have just now compared to chassis alignment figures given in Land Rover manuals (see cropped pics below) and they were within specs.

    The 110 measured 990mm centres - should be 990 to 1000mm (see dims 20 & 21 in figures for 110 below - Section X-X)

The rangie measured 978mm centres - should be 973 to 983mm (see dim 36 in figures for rangie chassis - Section X-X)

It will be series 1 Disco. To work out the splines... ie 10 or 24, remove one of the rear axles

Spacer should be ok if well made.

You are aware (it has been mentioned above), that your disco rear diff, which usually is subject to higher loads than the front, is now a lot weaker. These are weak in discos that aren't nearly as heavy as a loaded 110 Defender.

And your disco front diff has weak half shafts and cv's.

You might want to have some spares close at hand.
