Thread: hazard lights came on after rough track

There is an inerta switch under the bonnet that triggers if you crash through a severe bump, designed to put on hazards and open the doors, cause it thinks you've had an accident.

Open bonnet and push to reset (it is up against the firewall at the back of the engine). Or, you can just turn off the ignition for a sec and re-start.

I had this happen a lot driving to the Birdsville Races a few years ago and it is VERY annoying. In the end I just drove with the hazards on.....

i knew someone would of had this happen. i just couldnt understand it 2 weeks ago went threw there at twice the speed cause the car was overheating bad and had to keep the air flow (replaced the viscus fan and cleaned the whole water system since) so this time it was alot more sedate pace. thanks again will look for that switch its much easier that ripping out the side panels and unpluging the green box lol.

Been covered many times before ....try a search.

The green box is your alarm/remote locking unit.
On D1s with alarms the inertia/safety switch is inside this unit.
They have been known to become ultra sensitive over time.
Turning off the ignition and turning back on should stop the hazards.
If not then you might need a new alarm unit. ( not cheap )
Otherwise I heard there's a bypass dongle available.

funny enough i spent 30 minutes searching and nothing came up before i posted as i normally do seeing as most things have been covered please do tell how you search and get great results???

Search can be a little weird sometimes. Try 'Disco Hazards Bump' and some related stuff comes up- then flip over to 'Disco Alarm bump' for some more stuff

I had this happen last cup weekend after hitting a sand dune too hard at Robe.

Before I hit the dune I let my tyres down from 18 to 12psi. When I got to the top my hazards were flashing.

I checked the switch and it was fine and could hear a relay clicking under the glove box.

I decided to put my tyres back to 18psi and then check the problem. By the time I had aired up the tyres the hazards had stopped on their own.

thanks langy i tried 'disco hazards' but got 4 things and none had what i was after will try it a few different ways next time.



I turned the car off for a bit twice but at the time it musn't been long enough the third time i got the poops and started ripping things out had a beer and then it went away so i thought it was me pulling the plug hahaha
