    Rover V8 into Clubman

    Hi all,,

I am planning to build a clubman car with a Rover V8 ,,its been done alot in england and oz,,it will be used for short sprint /hillclimbs ,ie only track,,as I thinks to reg one now means almost new motor ,ie within 3 years of New and an local donor as well.

So being only reasonably mechanical ,especially in regards to recoing the motor ,, some help will be needed ,,

Can anyone suggest / recommend a mechanic /automotive wokshop in Melbourne ,I do prefer the smaller ,concerns ,even someone who works from a small factory or home is preferred .

If anyone has any Helpful ideas it would be appreciated

    Cheers

Surely the Ztec motors used in the PRB's would be a better option than a Rover V8? Plus most of the kits are designed to pass ADR's with these engines.

What gearbox are you thinking of using behind the V8?

I agree, only the ford ztec and corolla motor are legal for clubman type vehicles plus the chasiss's are built to suit these, even if its only a track vehicle it will handle better with a 4 .

I know what you are saying the rice burners are great ,but have already done that,if I could make one sound like a rover v8 in full song ,gearbox will be supra ,, with a kit from Dellow

Just use the R380. Given the car has little weight, it's unlikely the strength issues in the Rover box will be uncovered. They tend to fail with more towing a 3 ton caravan....... Being driven in fifth up a hill....... Try finding a 'suffix L' box as they are the later and stronger ones. If you can't, it doesn't really matter.
Then you don't need any adaptors.
But it will be nose heavy. But then so are Bolwells, Elfins, De Tomasos, Isos, Corvettes, etc.........

I don't think much of the supra boxes, have wiped second and third gears off them with Chev's in front many a time...... Also found the gear ratio spacing in the earlier ones to be annoying.
