A little bit of a shave gains about 25mm with no loss of strenght and leaks.
The standard drain plug is still protected.
To do more would mean a lot of work and relocation pf the bottom cover bolt with a welded drain plug etc.

Is there a gasket behind the cover or is it best to just use silicone?
I have ordered an ARB cover, so will hopefully have it in a few days.
I have also ordered a front diff cover - just went with the Les Richmond unit (made by white tiger) as I had these on my Rangie and never had a problem.
I post some pics when I get around to the install

Silicon would be fine, I used Loctite 518 to unitise the cover with the housing to try and strengthen it a little after the shave.Quote:

May be the 101 has abit more meat around the bottom of the diff housing than a defender.( 101 still has full drain plug lenght)
I have a TDI defender and found I could gain abit of clearence with the salisbury on that with the standard pressed metal cover.........all quick and easy work with the grinder.
When money allows I will fit a detroit locker and a ARB cover on the defender and see how much more I can get with in reason.
Has anyone had any problems with the larger diff shaves ?

There are guys on Pirate who have put the diff upside down in a mill, milled down to the crownwheel, then welded a 10mm plate on to cover the hole. No problems that I have heard.Quote:
