It's a 5 pin Bosch, it's a Sunday, and I need to work a night shift, so is there an alternative I can fit in there?

The can goes really fast (like when there's a light out) but it doesn't actuate any of the lights. I pulled it apart and cleaned the contacts a couple of days ago (as I couldn't buy one after hours), but only got a day and a bit out of it.

I'll be away from the computer till noon, but if anyone has any alternative I can ask for at Repco or Autobarn, or if anyone has a spare anywhere close to Bayswater, Vic, then please let me know.

Absolutely any flasher can be adapted, providing the terminals are numbered on your original one. Terminal 49 is the input terminal from 12V ignition, terminal 49a is the output to the flasher switch. Terminal 31 is earth. Terminals C, C2 are for the dash indicators. They will not work with a different flasher. You will need to make up short adaptor cables to plug the correct wires to the numbered pins on your flasher. Some older 2 and 3 pin flashers are marked X for +12V input, L for flasher output, P for dash indicator. I recommend the Falcon XD - EL can as being easy to adapt.

I would be checking for short circuits first, especially at the trailer plug and its wiring.

If you're absolutely desperate, see if you bypass the flasher can. Get it going without the flash.
