I used to sail in 16 footers out of Drummoyne Sailing Club and remember Trailer Sailers going backwards in the teeth of a good NorEaster LOL.
Good luck with the build
Some time ago I was given a very tired trailer sailer of unknown brand.... the aim is to rebuild it with a trip down the Murray in mind

the first time I put it in the water it promptly sank due to centre case slot not being sealed properly when someone ripped the trunk out.
the plan is to re build it with an outboard in a well, cabin, steering via rudder hung off transom
I like this boat which I will be copying a lot

the start...... these pictures are from 12/14 months ago so I'll post what I have got that show from this...................

Hull was gutted as every bit of timber was rotten, cabin was glassed ply which surprised me perhaps one hull was used for different topside configurations

Setting up spiles to give a guide to boat lengthening planking lands

From here it was just a matter of planking in 3/8 ply to follow existing lines of hull then cutting out original transom
Cheers Paul

Will watch with eagerness Paul.
I've had nothing to do with wooden boats really, but used to love driving through Mordialloc and seeing the big one out the front there being worked on.
Did have a mate many years ago who had similar with an old grey Holden motor to run it. Went well, not fast of course, but was sturdy and reliable I think. The red one certainly looks sweet.
Marcus actual base hull is fibreglass which I'm grafting plywood to, so not quiet a wooden boat. I'm trying to get the felling of 40s 50s era boat
will put up more pictures soon
Cheers Paul
Thought I might find you here...
Restoring an old boat is a project that has always appealed to me, in particular one powered by steam. Unfortunately I'm more naughty than nautical...

Paul, would this boat normally have a small inboard motor with rudder, as opposed to an outboard?
When I first got the boat its primary power was sail,in hindsight maybe I could have fitted a small engine and shaft drive but an outboard seemed an easier option.
The outboard will be locked in dead ahead position and steering will be by a trasom hung rudder and cable pulley system to a wheel in wheel house
Cheers Paul
Drop a 186 in it....lol
