Fishing Howqua River near Howqua
Hi All,
I'm off to Howqua at Christmas and will take the fly and spinning rods with me. For trout I have some Tassie Devils and have been advised to get some hoppers, royal wulffs and parachute adams. If nymphing hare and copper beads.
Any tips for other fish? I think there are carp in the river so corn and a mallet should hopefully do the job with them.

I've been there early in the season many years ago and it was good.
Like most places it is probably a lot better before every man and his dog starts thrashing the water and annoying the fish.
That being the case, IMO it is better to find some water where others have not been (if this is possible at Xmas time).
good luck & tight lines
