More than 4,000 oysters seized in Sydney area.

We had an incident here at Sandgate where families from somewhere in the Pacific were lining up across the beach [ ok, mud flats] with buckets, and like an Emu parade, every living thing went into the buckets. Fisheries were quick to react, and we haven't seen that since, but not much life around now.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

In Tasmania the pacific oyster (the one they farm) ironically is considered a pest in the wild and you take as many as you want. So long as you taking them from nice clean water they are great eating.

Same thing happened when I lived on the front at Scarborough. The missus suggested I wander over and tell them that what they were doing was illegal.
I replied ' Look at the size of those blokes!'.........................and the women were even bigger!

Oyster farmers have to depurate harvested oysters for 3 days in pure water before sale or shucking.

if the water the oysters are from have any viruses or bacteria like ecoli then you can die from eating them.

Every estuary has also to have a plan to stop harvesting for usually 10 days after any rain event as coliforms run downstream from cattle etc.

It is pretty dangerous eating oysters from rocks anywhere these days as around the corner there can be a house with a septic tank flowing ecoli into the water which is not visible.
