How to launch a boat

They may not have left the hand brake off. I saw a Pajero once spinning the tyres madly as it slide backwards down a slippery ramp with a boat and trailer behind it. Outcome was the same.

I wonder how quickly the Troopy will get sold, and how quickly it will rust out

That would have to be one of the worst feelings coming back and seeing you 4wd like that.

One idea might have been to gun the boat hard in reverse so as to tow the troopy out far enough to make a reef but then again even fish have pride.:wasntme:

what else would you use a toymota for ?? an anchor

but they dont even make GOOD boat anchors:p

Possible I suppose however the boat is a tinny and wouldn't weigh much. Hard to see it towing a 4WD in. You never know though. :cool:

Some of the best fun can be had going to the boat ramps and watching the once a year weekend warriors launching their boats. I sympathise with the poor reversers as we all had to learn sometime however some of the sights are amazing.

I watched one guy launch his fibreglass boat in weather you wouldn't dream of going out in and the poor sod got it pushed back in onto the sand sideways and every crashing wave flooded it. They tried several 4WD's attempting to drag it back to the trailer but with all the saltwater in it it was way too heavy. They had to leave it until the weather cleared a day or so later then drain it.

Other guys warming up their motors on dry land, the good old dealer who sold it to them new didn't advise it needs to be in the oggin to cool the motor.

People assuming cause it's sunny it's safe to go out. It's amazing there aren't more life threatening stories in the media.

According to the Written Off Vehicle Register Manual, a vehicle is a statutory write-off if immersed in salt water above the door sill level for any period.

It's an old Hot Rodders joke but it still brings a smile :
