    My Brewing Capers

Hpal's Albums and Images - Gallery - Aussie Home Brewer

Here's a link to my gallery on AHB. I;m an all grain brewer and I've built a bit of gear along the way (I'm a fitter) like the electric brew kettle (72L) and the grain mill and lots of other stuff.

    Keg Cooler in Outdoor Kitchen

I put together an outdoor kitchen that comes with a water tap and sink. Now, I'm not going to plumb it in so was going to use the sink as an ice bucket, when we have a do.
Now, this idea has gone out the window because, last Friday whilst my BIL and I enjoyed an ale and admiring my handiwork, we had an epiphany.
Why not replace the water tap with a beer tap, attached via a suitable cooling system to say, a 20 litre keg, in the cabinet.

The cabinet's internal dims are :
    Depth 500 mm
    Width 800 mm
    Height 740 mm

The height quoted only has a width of 400 mm between the side wall and the inner side of the sink. The sink drain hose is central, so there is a bit of space available under the sink with a height of about 540 mm.

Is there a small keg 'fridge or Temprite type of system that will accomodate my needs?

Size of system will depend on throughput on your "entertainment nights/days". Not sure you can still get the traditional 'Temprite' System which would require a reasonable size refrig. unit for the anticipated heaviest load in hot weather. Ice Bank & Glycol Systems seem to be used these days.

A long time since my "Temprite" days & of course things have moved on a fair bit but I'm sure one or both of my esteemed colleagues could advise what gear is available today that would suit your needs.

Beware of the 'Testing Mode' though if & when you install a system.

Fridgie usually leans on the bar with a Glass thermometer testing a few glasses of your tipple. Looks very pensive & stares at ceiling whilst supping your beer all the time mouthing the word "Hhmmmmmmmm". Occasionally sucks air through front teeth. Shakes head, makes an adjustment & repeats exercise continuously. You. "Where has all my beer gone it was a full keg when you started? It's bull****? Don't you believe it.
