Show us your Bar or Setup

Thought this would be a good idea, maybe there are things we can do to improve our own setup, by getting ideas from peoples gear and setup/bar area and the gear you use

It doesn't have to be a Homebrew setup either.

Like the look of where this could go!
Presently buiding a "sort of" bar at my place, so I'm keen for ideas.
Watching with interest.....especially keen on names as I'm stuck there!

Wait til TELF RRC see's this thread, he'll be well keen on sticking up pictures of his, called "The Outside Inn". It even has its own FaceBook page and fans!

    Cheers,
COOL thread. Here's my set-up. 'The Outside Inn' as pointed out by Kieren, on Facebook.

    Under Construction

    Nearing Completion

    Painted and top stained

    The naming ceremony

    Party Night!

Old stereo fitted up, BBQ going, party lights and 80L fridge below and seating for seven.

Planned 'mods' are a solid 50mm thick Jarrah top, ceiling fan, brass foot rail, pop-up optics and a Kegerator. Oh, and one of these.....

But I think SWMBO may have something to say about that!

As seen in another thread, my inside setup.

My outside setup at the pool, the bar top is two oregan planks 10" by 5" joined together and coated in resin, hole drilled to fit the tap and font, line plumbed into a bar fridge under the bar to kegs, gas is supplied from a soda stream gas bottle with adaptor for a regulator.

I've made a few mods since these photos and have a couple more planned, bar stools for one, going put a back wall in too, to make it a bit more weather proof, but with the same rustic feel it has, maybe a BBQ beside it with cupboards and bench space, a work in progress so to speak

So already got the two planned mods for mine from the above post from Neils Outside Inn, the BBQ and the type of bar stools he has, so for me this is working out great

Just added a couple more pics showing it a bit more clearly

Here's some pics of the start of mine. Nothing too fancy as it's outdoors (and not very big, 2.5 x 2.8m sq slab) and plan to have a removable shade cloth "roof".
Red brick panels are now rendered and waiting on paint. Bar top covering is yet to be decided but likely to be a tiled surface.
Those planks are only temporary to help shade/protect whatever's under there right now.

Bit of a way to go yet....

    Cheers,

    Foot Rails

I'd like to get a foot rail on mine too, the brass ones look really nice but looking into these they are really quite expensive for the real thing. Anyone think of an alternative that would work out just as well and look just as nice?

I just priced up the Jarrah top at somewhere near $2,000 delivered, finished sprayed/treated etc. Quite a lot but the little place that does them does a really nice job and it is nearly 5sqm of benchtop. I could probably get some pieces much cheaper but wouldn't get an overall matching finish as good as what this guy does.

Love you're fridge set-up there Baz. I'd love to do that but don't think I drink enough beer to warrant it.

    Cheers,
Mate, that is looking great. Your bricklaying skills are defo better than mine!

Check out the Bar Wood place on Gnangara Road near my place, he has some lovely pieces of timber there. One about the right size for your bar for $500 I think it was.

Looking forward to a few beers at yours. Have you got a name for it yet?

    Thanks Neil!
Though I think the wooden tops look (and are) the biz, mine is gonna be exposed to the elements MUCH more than the set ups above. I'm going to put a base bown (for the bar top) and tile it all over. Should be less maintenance and means it "should" wash down a bit easier too. Will also allow me to put a capping on the narrow bits that don't get covered by the main bar top.

As much as I'd like to, I can't take all the credit for its construction. Rachs dad did a fair bit while he was with us on hols from UK over xmas.

Still no names I'm happy with.....open to as many suggestions as possible.
Bearing in mind there's kids around the bar who can read, so no dead obvious inuendos please...!!

As for a foot rail, if you're not fussed about it being brass, why not use some scaffolding pipe and try to polish it up a bit, or heavy duty paint...?? Just a thought.

    Cheers

    Cheers,
That's excellent, I'd love to build something like you guys have done, can't wait to see the finished product, should look great.

If you are going to tile the bar top, I'd go for a good slate tile, or even better an imitation marble top, they are basically cement with a polished top that looks like marble, relatively inexpensive.

I still reckon a timber top is the way to go though, make a roof for the bar, just a scillian style is good, it not only give protection from the elements but it also gives you space to hang things or attach shelves too.

This is what my bar looked like when I had it inside, all I did was put a roof on it and an awning when I put it down by the pool, it's been down there about 5yrs now and the resin on the bar top looks like it did when I coated it.
