Which model to consider in a diesel.

OK. I have repaired my D2 and hoping for a renewed period together but
the interim had me thinking of an upgrade.
I have been persuaded for some years since reading a good review on all the Discos till then that the D3 was the pick of the bunch.
Can I get some feedback as to whether the newer D4 on regressed or were there every bit as good or better than the D3 diesel
    on road and off?

The D4 is better all round, many issues were sorted.

Th D4 2.7 is less problematic than thev3.0L,and is modified from the D3 2.7.

But they are getting pretty old,so finding a low mileage one in good condition maybe difficult,as there are not many around.

Having made the change 2 years ago, I went from D2a to 2010 D4 specifically with the 2.7 TDV6 engine. I also don't like the rotary transmission dial in the D4 update.

Very happy with the move, even though I loved my D2. D2 is a refined truck, D4 is a limo with very real off road capabilities and even more inside room than D2 and a real 7 seater - the seat design is a winner and I've been very comfortable in the 3rd row.
Go for it - maybe keep the 2 as a toy?

Hope you kept the D2, I'm looking for one to get my collection complete. I'm having a 1998 D1 with 130k on it and recently bought a limo D3 with 110k, but bad luck, having a HPFP issue, hope to solve it this week and hit the road again.
Also love D4, hope to have one some day!
