    Well bits and pieces have happened over the last couple of months I have bought a rebuild kit from Isuzu. This was under the $1,300 mark and included a complete lot of replacement parts to rebuild the motor. Quiet good value, I thought seeing recently the engine rebuilder ground the crank 0.25 undersize. A real bummer was these kit come with standard bearings and Isuzu charge $600 for a set of mains and big ends. It surprises me how much variance OEM parts can be, I mean a complete kit with new pistons, sleeves, gudgeon pins, gaskets and more at only twice the cost to replace the bearing caps, it seems a bit rediculous. Anyway the moral to this saga was keep the crank std and buy a complete rebuild kit from Isuzu its far cheaper if you want genuine.

    Also had Sheldon sent me down a 4BE1 flywheel with my converted Isuzu gearbox[IMG][/IMG] but when I went to get the turbo pressure plate it was too small for the flywheel. So have bought a new Flywheel. Damn but thats what happens some times with these things, anyway whats a few trials and tribulations with a rebuild. Here are some comparitive photos of the 4BD1 T and 4BE1 flywheel pressure plate and clutch setup.

    The 2 photos show the 4BD1 flywheel c.f 4BE1 one. The ring gear is the same diameter but the flywheel face on the 4BE1 is recessed from the outer edge unlike the 4BD1 as seen in the photo below.

    The pressure plate on the 4BD1 is quiet a bit larger and

    Mind you the difference maybe due to the motor I am rebulding being a 1990 model one as opposed to an earlier version.

    Last week also picked up a set of reconditioned connecting rods from the US these having resized big ends, I got them because the motor had a spun bearing that had resulted in the crank damage and hence the grinding needed to be done. With the exchange rate being what it is presently these worked out at $52 ea including postage and delivery.[IMG][/IMG] I though this was good value and showed them to an engine rebuilder here and he thought they were very well done and very reasonably priced.

    oil squirters

    Well this morning got a message back from the US the chap suppling the oil squirters and fixing bolts is unable to supply a full set as the motor he was sourcing them off had a connecting rod let go and smash 2 of the four squirters in the block. So I'm back to square one with fitting them onto my non turbo block. If any one has any leeds please let us know, even an incomplete set would surfice as there are 2 in the US if I still want them. Help would be greatly appreciated with this one, as it now my only real hold up to rebuilding the motor and fitting off the isuzu box (care of the grubb)

    Soltoggio Bros in Perth have at least 1 "parts" 4BD1T. 6BD1T parts probably fit as well?

    Thanks for that Ben had no luck there the guy gave me several other leeds to follow while they too have lead to dead ends I am sure something will come up.

    Does anyone know the part numbers for the 4HE oil jet assembly and the check valve assembly bolt for comparision. The part numbers for the 4BD1T are as follows
    part number 113342-0740 oil jet piston cooler assembly
    part number 894107-7190 check valve assembly bolt

    Also do these numbers corespond to the 6BD1T motors or does the Cummins 4BT have the same oil jet assemblies?

    That is a shame. I am sure they have them though. They told me over the phone they didn't have a turbo crossover pipe, I went down and they had plenty... (after I had fabricated my own ).

    I think any low value parts or difficult to remove parts they just say no.

    If you had someone who could go down there and look you may get lucky.

    What about truck wreckers in Brisbane?

    Yes perhaps if someone is going down to get other parts that could work out, not sure I know any one at the moment, have to wait and see what eventuates. Timms in Thomastown were not able to help either.

    The 4BE1 uses the same size clutch as the early 4BD1T.
    My 1986 4BD1T is currently running a clutch plate and gearbox (MSA-5G) from a 4BE1 in a NPR250.

    It holds fine.
