BS, I'm way too tight for that :p
:D
Ben, you're right re the bell housing when I compare photos.
I was up at some ungodly hour this morning and perusing the forum when someone mentioned the 'G' in a thread so I went searching.
Hmm, p'raps a good 4BD1-T is an easier bet, although the cheapest option is solve the lube issues with the 300Tdi...if I can, as I suspect something even more fundamental than lack of oil cooling such as a lack of strength in the bottom end and things are distorting under load....
DO, I'd use the R380 witha modified LT85 b/housing as suggested in a couple of threads.
Mine is a 'K' suffix box, so has the big bearings, etc. and if you run an oil like Motul Gear 300 or Torco RTF it gives you a little up your sleeve in terms of gear/bearing protection under torque impulses. They are a much more robust oil than what most run or need in an R380.
According to Dave Ashcroft there are only minor detail differences between the 'K' and 'L' and they treat them as the same when rebuilding.
Both are substantially stronger than the 'J' 'box.
Joel, the 'Cruiser has a good engine, it has better forward vision off road and it's wheelbase/tray length is a better than a GU Patrol but the Patrol is a fundamentally better workhorse IMO if you grab a TD42T and I'm used to it's idiosyncrasies/servicing, etc.
