    Spring rates or specs

I called a spring manufacturer about springs for the 110. I used the army parts book to describe the original springs and they calculated the rates as 220 pounds front and 240 pounds rear. The inf on the net seems to indicate the same rated springs are fitted to later tdi 130 s. The isuzu motor is about 120 kg heavier.

So the question is can 130 tdi springs be fitted to an isuzu 110.

    Thanks.

Of course, you can fit whatever springs you like. It all depends on what ride height and spring rate you're after.

I run 180lb/in springs in my rangie, currently got 240lb springs in the back from when I moved house but normally run 180's there too. I previously had those 240 lb/in springs in the front but wasn't getting the articulation or ride I wanted.
I have roughly 1130/1170kg axle weights. It's about 5 years since I weighed it.

IIRC OME has some 220lb/in coils for landrover. I can't recall the length of them.

LRA have 17" free length 220lb springs.

I use these in the Tdi 130 with winch/bar/side bar/steps and find them a really good compromise and get full travel out of them. (Bump stop measurement is still over 105mm, was 120/117mm when initially fitted before settling.
The bump stops are polished from on road use )
I need to find someone with a corner weight gauge, I've only ever put it over a complete weigh bridge.

I've been wondering what rate/free length to use when i eventually go with a 4BD1.

I couldn't do corner weights as the weigh-bridge was a little lower than the surrounding, but I did weigh each side of my rangie as well as front/rear axles. it was 60kg heavier on the RHS which I put down to diff and driveshaft offset.
From there if you've got equal spring compression, then you've got close to equal sprung weight.

I'd have to say that there would be a moderate difference in spring rates between a 110 and a Rangie.

It all comes down to axle weights. Unladen an Isuzu powered 110 won't be far off an Isuzu powered rangie.

NRC9448 NRC9449 (130 spec) will be fine in the front, but if also adding bar and winch may be a little low with 4BD1 installed. I am running LRA Orange springs front, steel bar with no winch 4BD1 in a RRC. It gives me 80mm bump stop clearance and hardly ever bottoms onto bumpstops.
IF I was to fit a winch then I will be looking at a spring upgrade. ATM I am hapy with ride quality and height, I am running 33's.

Thanks all for the replies. There doesn't seem to a definite answer. The springs were free so will try them out. My bump stop clearances are currently about 125 mm at the front from memory.

I have king springs in mine. KRRR-02 in the front - which I am happy with, and they seem fine with the extra weight of a bullbar and winch. I will measure the wire thickness and number of coils when I get home.

We should compile a database of spring specs for isuzu 110s.

That sounds like a great idea Ben.
