Andersons in QLD had a set a while back, also Macnamara Diffs in Melb used to do a conversion I do not Know if they still do. If no luck try fitting the 1.113 until you find a set. Iwas talking to a mate the other day he was using the 1.113 gears behind a very strong 383 chev and found they ran at around 140-160C compared to 240C with the 0.996 gears

Mine was rebuilt at 240000km. It now has 370000km and the engine had a T added at ~320k km.

Dave S on here used to own one with 360000km and what I am pretty sure was the original box. 3rd was sloppy as hell, but the rest of the box seemed OK.

Mate I've worked on landrovers for the past 15yrs and never seen a high mileage LT85! All the vehicles I have been working on have done huge amounts of hard 4wding and not hwy miles.

The LT95 behind my 4BD1T jumps out of high range under a moderate load. Has anyone else had this problem

That is a trick that some of the military 110's have. Some even have a sticker on the windscreen for it!

What you could do;

When going from low to high, allow the short lever to stay in neutral whilst giving the gear box a bit of a spin with first gear. !NOTE! Once you have given it a spin with 1st gear and pushed in the clutch allow it to slow down a bit before pulling the short lever back into high. You'll get the feel for it and the idea is to help it engage properly. Once you have done this, Drive off in 1st gear whilst pulling back on the short lever encouraging it into high. This works well for my LT95 as it would jump out of high all the time. Especially embarrasing at traffic lights!!! This option does a lot less damage in my opinion than having it half engaged and tearing itself out of gear at the time you least expect or want it to happen.

I can't emphasise enough to do this gently as not to ruin things. I can see me getting some interesting responses to this post!

Ah, OK... I've only been working on Land Rovers since 1993 and only ever use mine to drive to the shops ;)







But the shops can be a bit few and far between in WA...
