I doubt Isuzu would rebuild any engines themself. They would farm the work out.
LR (dealer) mechanics don't rebuild engines, they just fit new engines/heads etc...

I'm bl@@dy glad I've done just about all that to mine.........but then again, what about galing the firewall, chassis and door frames, then a complete rewire to marine or aviation standard......not in my lifetime, I want to get out and enjoy it......
.....oh, airbags, why?
.
Airbags - why:
1. Enormous improvement in ride quality over corrugations.
2. You can drop the vehicle to the bump stops in seconds for loading/unloading (helps heaps when getting the canoe on and off the roof)
3. The ride comfort AND ride height is the same whether the vehicle is unladen or has 1T load plus a 5m boat in tow.
I've been going on my 110 for getting on towards 2 years now. I think you'll find that even though you are not looking at doing anything radical, you are looking at modifying quite a few things. This always takes a hell of a lot more time than just swapping new components for old ones.
To give you an idea, I wanted to move my intercooler. I can't weld, so I had a fabrication shop make and fit some pipes and mounts to suit. I supplied them with several pages of detailed instructions and photos of other installations. The work took way longer than expected and cost quite a lot of money. When I got the car back I noticed that the holes they'd cut for the silicone hoses weren't big enough, so I had to pull it all apart, enlarge the holes and refit. But in the process of doing that, I found some rust which had to be repaired, more dodgy wiring and a crack in the windscreen washer bottle motor (among other things).
The point is that while it sounds simple enough, there will be literally hundreds of little things that will take time and slow you down. Someone with a lot of skill and experience will do it quicker, but often a professional is working to a time and cost budget and will overlook things that aren't within the brief.
I don't get to work on the car as much as I'd like to, so you may be able to get it done more quickly. I'd say I'm still a year off making the car driveable and have spent more money than I'd care to think about. And that's without doing anything to the body and interior, except for a little rust repair.
And so now all it needs doing to finish stage one is;
1. Good aircond and heater refitted.
2. Noise and heat proofing throughout and esp on the floor and seat boxes
3. A stereo fitted
4. Stop the water geting in:D
it's time to sell it:eek:
I know , I know but it's all part of a bigger plan and I am prone to doing dumb s..t when it comes to offloading great cars. At least someone will benefit majorly:)
Not all is lost , I do know of a nice 4BD1T coming available about this time next year and although it may have some bad rust in the doors and a minimal amount in the firewall it can be my next $ sinkhole:o
.......Was this just a form of sly advertising? That is your truck on eBay?.......Landrover Isuzu 110 County | eBay
Hi Gerry
No not a sly form of advertsising , it is clearly advertised in the new Markets section.
It is just that someone had recently replied to a very old post of mine so I thought I'd update where things are at:)
