    Clutch pressure plate bolt torque

Anyone know the correct torque for clutch pressure plate bolts.
Its not in my 4BD1 engine manual, and its obviously a different plate to the V8 ones.

Also, do they need any loctite on the threads, or are the OK with just the standard spring washers.

I allway gust pull them up tight with a reasonable length bar and never had a problem in any vehicle, have done a few over the years.

Steve, 12ft/lb or 16nm is what the book says for the normal landrover pressure plate. Tighten them in progressively or the pressure plate can be distorted. No loctite required, the springs are all that is required.

    Steve,

As Brian says, but if you don't have a torque wrench that low, 1 hand moderate twisting on a 1/2" ratchet handle is close enough.

Yep as they said its 12ft/lb but be carefull I used the old bolts when I put a new pressure plate in and I snapped a bolt into the flywheel looked at the bolts and they were only grade 4.6 so I changed them over to grade 8 then all good

Thanks - just double checked and they are all 8.8's.

In your case maybe lucky you DID snap one off when you were fitting it. Better than having them shear off later once it was all back together.....
