I think so. This is what I'm checking at the moment. My new loom is a V8 one. There are two possible ones:

    LR 402 1 PP 85/86 2.5L & V8 Petrol upto - 270226 Main Harness PRC 5319

    LR 405 1 PP 86/89 2.5L & V8 Petrol 270227 - 404682 Main Harness PRC 6311

I'm not totally sure of all the differences, but I chose the later type. This has provisions for a brake fluid warning light which I don't have - I will track other differences as I go.

    Flagg,

Any chance the engine loom would be available separately? Got a pic of the harness connector to the main harness?

I drove it out of the garage for the first time yesterday

There was one mistake - easy to fix.

There are 3 things I've not been able to work out - the reverse light, the rear wiper and the interior light.

The problem is that there were many different options and variants. Switches etc that changed in minor ways throughout the years..

It was autosparks that made it up - and they now have a pattern for the engine loom. The only thing is that there is a relay which has been wired up in the patter which can be used as an anti-theft device (this is all I can think off).

The full loom (non-AC) was 450 pounds - so not cheap. However i found literally HUNDREDS of problems waiting to happen with the old loom when I was taking it out. It would have been a life of unending pain, so I don't regret it for a second.

It is a lot of work to replace the loom, and there are many places that I had to butcher connecters and bits from the old loom to get everything connected - it isn't a 100% like for like. But there is too much variation from the factory to get it perfect I think.

PM me if you want the details of my order.. I decided not to get more than one made up as there could be too much trouble working out which was going to be the most common / what people need.

This is what the engine plug looks like:

Interior light goes to the same switch as the dash instrument lights...
Never seen one with a working rear wiper though mine did move once...briefly...and not when operating the switch. Think it was a death spasm.
