Yeah, your non wastegated T3 should be producing upto about 20psi. Not sure what's happening there. As performance has improved so much I suspect the boost reading is inaccurate.
exactly rar110 ! make sure boost line is close to the inlet manifold more so if you hav an intercooler but still cant hurt, and i would try and use either vdo, autometer, smiths etc etc yes expensive but will be accurate.....im sure if you was to turn boost up to around 15psi (the boost wont kill it so dont be scared) then turn the fuelling up all this depending on wether or not you hav a pyro otherwise its is to risky:eek: the theory i use is you put a turbo on to blow air into the engine so make it blow air into the engine :D haha
It should be producing more than 8psi. My GT28, which is roughly a T3 compressor produces 4 to 5 psi at idle.
not having much to do with your type of turbo I can't 100% say but there has got to be a way to get more boost someone such as dougal will know dougal please comment haha as rar110 said I also reach 8psi or there about just off idle and cruise on around 11psi at happy engine rev (hardly any noise pedal) dont listen to what most people say about blowing the engine up with over that boost setting they will blow a head gasket at 60psi I think it is
No, my intake manifold is the standard early N/A engine type so is quite different to yours. The boost is measured immediatly before the air supply splits to each cylinder. So as far as possible from the turbo. If I remember correctly your turbo is similar to Bearman's except his has a wastegate which he disconnected effectively. His turbo was reaching about 14psi before he deactivated the wastegate.
once again what rar110 said ! because you want to measure what is going into the engine at that specific moment....whats happening in those cylinders is the key to power hence having egt as close to the cylinders as possible also
so it sounds like my boost gauge is right, and i can't change the amont of boost cause there is no wastegate, so i might be keeping an eye out for a cheap bigger turbo, but it's still a lot better then what it used to be
cheers everyone :)
